Why We Exist

Making Farming Economically Viable

RipeCrate is a Public Benefit Corporation closing the gap between local farms and the restaurants, institutions, and buyers who want to source from them.

Local food ecosystems lack the infrastructure to match what farms produce with what the market (restaurants, institutions, and government agencies) need at scale.

That gap keeps farmers as price-takers without marketplace leverage, and the friction costs push buyers who genuinely want to source locally toward national distributors instead.

The willingness exists on both sides. What’s missing is a reliable system to complete the connection.

RipeCrate closes this gap by building up the Farmer.

Farmers never pay to use RipeCrate. It’s free, forever, for every farm that onboards. We believe in working for the people growing the food, not charging them to access it.

01

We aggregate demand

We show restaurants and institutions what local farms have available, giving farmers access to better market terms and real bargaining position instead of take-it-or-leave-it pricing.

02

We open up Farmers' Markets

We provide free public visibility into market schedules, attending farms, and what's available on market day. Too many consumers skip farmers' markets because they can't plan a full shop or don't know what they'll find. Removing that uncertainty puts more customers in front of more farmers' stalls.

03

We tell the Farm's story

Free public profile pages for every farm on RipeCrate with full optimization for search and discovery. Each profile gives the farm a permanent, visible presence online that drives exposure, tells their story in their voice, and opens the door for direct relationships with buyers beyond the platform.

04

We let Farmers verify who sources from them

RipeCrate's trust-mark for restaurants is earned, not bought. Farmers confirm which restaurants source from them, giving diners a credible signal that their meal supports local agriculture. It's accountability that flows from the farm up, not a badge purchased for marketing.

05

We're building what comes next

Looking ahead, RipeCrate intends to support farmers in navigating grants and financing, serve institutional food procurement needs, and offer crop data intelligence that stakeholders can use for planning, policy, and investment decisions.

When farms are profitable, they build equity. Farms with equity have a path to succession and transfer. That means farmland protection and long-term stewardship. Every dollar invested in farmer access compounds when there’s sustainable market demand behind it.

Rooted in Massachusetts

RipeCrate is incorporated in Massachusetts, the state leading Farm-to-Fork adoption nationally. We exist because the farmland crisis, rising costs, and negative returns for farmers are not abstract policy problems. They are an immediate threat to how communities feed themselves.

We are committed to closing the loop: making farms profitable, viable, protected, and feeding people.
